I just love Kamado Joe recipes and the versatility of these cookers!
Not that long ago, the Kamado grill was unique among backyard barbecues, so you can imagine how hard it was to come across good Kamado Joe recipes.
When I got my first Kamado grill, there were few if any available recipes. Hardwood lump charcoal, the fuel that powers the Kamado was hard to come by which meant stocking up when you could find it.
Accessories, like a Kamado rotisserie, or even a durable pizza stone were even more challenging to find.
But as the Kamado grill became more popular, brands like Kamado Joe started including most of the tools you need to get the job done with your grill so you don't have to go looking for them in strange places on the internet.
Kamado Joe recipes weren't always easy to come by
The Kamado's popularity also leads to more Kamado Joe recipes being developed. Social media makes it both easier to share information and to be inspired by what fellow Kamado owners are cooking.
I appreciate how food from the Kamado Joe tastes when it's cooked with hardwood lump charcoal. If you've ever wondered about what is hardwood lump charcoal, this article does a good job explaining why I like it so much. But the main point is that it burns clean, hot, and with less ash than other fuels.
But the really cool thing about Kamado Joe recipes is that you can adapt almost any recipe to be cooked on a Kamado grill. Most of the recipes below were cooked on a Kamado Joe. But the name brand of your grill really doesn't matter all that much when it comes to cooking.
As long as you have some good friends to share the cooking (and dining) experience with, it's well worth the effort in my opinion!
