Chicken And Waffles Burger Is What You Need For Burger Month

Chicken And Waffles Burger? Why not!

This week I had been reading about national burger day and national burger month. Wanting to get in on the excitement of national burger month, I cobbled together a Chicken and Waffles burger with ingredients I had on hand and it was one of the more fun dishes I have tried in quite some time.

I wanted to act spontaneously because I had no plans for cooking outside tonight, but the weather broke and left me with a warm and sunny early evening which begged me to fire up the grill and cook outside.

I breaded chicken breast in panko and seasoned with my new favorite Mango Chipotle seasoning from Camp Chef. Using oil instead of eggs lets me get that fried crispy crust on the grill and is a great way to make the panko golden brown and delicious.

The chicken, tater-tots, and waffles were all cooked on the Traeger Timberline at 425F for varying times until done. I was even able to stuff a jalapeno with cream cheese and use it as an edible garnish.

A delicious chicken burger sandwich that would be a favorite for an informal Sunday brunch or a comfort food style picnic I would certainly make again.

One thing to note which was a fail and a win at the same time was the tater tots. Most of us know what they taste like already from the cafeteria days, but these were a bit different. Since I drizzled the waffles with Vermont Maple Syrup, by accident the syrup got all over the tots as well resulting in a sweet salty crunchy explosion of flavor. I really hope I don't end up reaching for the syrup bottle the next time I am in the fridge looking for ketchup!

That's usually my response to over the top foods, why not? Because it's stinking delicious!
